i’m in love

TEAPOTS are a challenge and a joy to create, I feel honoured to be part of the November Finders Keepers design market in Brisbane with a stall of my handmade teapots and I’m in a frenzy of making. Thought I’d share part of the process…

teapot making

teapots are made in separate parts – body, spout, lid and handle – and put together once the clay has firmed up a little to a ‘leather hard’ state. Once constructed they need to dry slowly to avoid cracking of the individual components and then they are bisque fired, glazed and fired again.

Opening the kiln at the end of this quite long process is a huge reason I love pottery,  it’s like opening a treasure chest – every time!
