Wow 2026 already! Do you make New Year Resolutions? I checked mine from last year: to make wilder, more eccentric Steampunk ceramics and generally challenge my skills. I definitely did that!
This year I have a simple resolution: to continue doing what I love. I will be providing more workshops in regional Australia and sharing my skills. And for me – attending a workshop in Bali in May to learn more about the intricacies of designing and making work for soda firing. 16 weeks and counting! The goal is to build a soda fire kiln at my studio. This is an incredible opportunity for me to expand my practice and branch out into new directions. (Subsidised through an Express Lane RADF Grant).
The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Scenic Rim Regional Council to support local arts and culture in Regional Queensland.
In the studio this summer, I have been making components for tall garden totems. I’m thrilled these have been so well received so I will keep making them. Hopefully end up with a few in my own garden. These will be ready in time for the Tamborine Mountain Arts Trail in May. More details to come, but mark your diaries for this wonderful event.
I got some lovely news for the new year. Periwinkle, Steampunk teapot is a finalist in the 2026 North Coast Ceramics’ Annual Award for Contemporary Ceramic Excellence

New feline delights in the gallery
I thought I would share with you these very popular cat sculptures. If you are a feline fanatic, I’m sure these will fit beautifully in your home. There are only 3 available in the gallery, and available on my website.
Woodford Folk Festival
What an absolute blast was Woodford Folk Festival. We were invited to exhibit the Anti-Gloom Portal sculpture (originally created for SWELL Sculpture Festival) and the reception it received from thousands of people was heart-warming! It had pride of place at the entrance to Artisan Alley where all the art workshops were held. If you haven’t attended before, I highly recommend! The culture, the vibe, the music, the art and the food, it was a feast for the soul.
That’s the PJ Pottery news for now, thanks for reading. I hope you have a wonderful 2026!
